OUR PASTOR

Mark Anthony Ward, B.R., M.A., M.Div. 

 

Reverend Mark Anthony Ward is the Pastor of The Zion Temple Baptist Church of Akron, Ohio. Pastor Ward has served as Pastor for twenty plus years of a growing community of believers. He is committed to the spiritual enrichment of God’s people by preaching, teaching, and singing. Furthermore he lives as an example of the keeping power of the Holy Spirit. He is committed to a relational ministry that focuses on change, spiritual growth, and equipping the saints for ministry and purpose. Rev. Ward is a native of Barberton, Ohio, which is part of metropolitan Akron. He is a product of Barberton City Schools, where he was a standout; state recognized basketball player and graduate of 1977. Also in 2008 he received the honor of being inducted to the Barberton Sports Hall of Fame. He is a retired employee from First Merit Bank after twenty-two years. He is also a Board Member of the East Akron Y.M.C.A. and Joy Park Federation. Presently, Pastor Ward is a doctoral student of Faith Evangelical College and Seminary in Tacoma, Washington. He has earned the following: Bachelor of Arts in Religion, Master of Arts in Christian Ministry, Master of Divinity in Strategic Leadership; all this in an effort to bring the best to the body of Christ. He is continuing his studies working toward his Doctorate of Ministry degree that he will receive in January of 2014.

 

Rev. Ward is a man of faith and of family. He is married to the former Barbara G. Edwards with whom he has shared his life for twenty-two years. They have one daughter, Dominique.

Lady Barbara G. Ward

 

Lady Ward is a woman of faith, a woman of virtue, a woman of essence, and of elegance. She has a heart for Christ, a love for her husband and a dedication to her family. As the First Lady of Zion Temple Baptist Church, she is also a woman of compassion, patience and understanding. She and Pastor Ward have been married for twenty-two years.
