OUR CHURCH,

OUR PURPOSE...

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.”

                                                                                                          Matthew 5:14 (ESV)

When Jesus made this pronouncement He issued a challenging mandate to his disciples. However, in his early ministry, He had given them another powerful message from a mountaintop. As He compares the church to a city set on a hill in Matthew 5, therefore we are certain that this analogy is for us today, as it was then. This is for the church to keep its focus, that we are the salt of the earth and the light of the world. The church is to give seasoning to the earth and set the standards for the world. We should be a light for this dark world so men, women and children can see their way to Jesus Christ.

A CITY SET ON A HILL DEMONSTRATES STABILITY:

The church is set firmly upon a solid foundation and rests stably upon a rock. No wonder Jesus said.... “Upon this rock I build my church.” No matter how the gates of hell pressures and pursues the church; they shall not prevail.

A CITY SET ON A HILL DEMONSTRATES VISIBILITY:

The church cannot and must not hide from the world. Indeed, it is difficult for the church to hide it’s calling, as it was for the Prophet Jeremiah to put out the fire, that was shut up in his bones. The church cannot escape the fact that the world constantly watches us, seeking a witness of the power and presence of Christ.

A CITY SET ON A HILL NECESSITATES RESPONSIBILITY:

The church is not simply to be showcase. Its stability and visibility produces responsibility. The church's responsibility is to Go, Preach, Teach, and Baptize in the Name of The Father, Son, and The Holy Spirit. In other words, the church is to make disciples for Christ, by demonstrating its own discipleship. Whether on a “Mountain Top” or in a "Valley Low", its message, mission, and meaning cannot be hidden.

THE ZION TEMPLE BAPTIST CHURCH PURPOSE STATEMENT:

We are that positive city set on a hill, built on the Word of Faith, seeking to provide a spirit filled wholesome ministry for all men, women and children. We strive to be a church built on the Word of God and in our Faith, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. We are concerned with making and developing disciples, leaders and workers for this moment and hour. It is our continued prayer that we can worship, witness, and work while we are here on earth. When our Lord returns for His church, we must give an account before the judgment seat of Christ as to whether we fed the hungry; clothed the naked; visited the sick; ministered to the prisoners; won the lost; stood for the right, and promoted the cause of Christ. In that day, I pray we will be able to answer... "Yes Lord!"
